Café Verona is one of our new range of blends that we have been developing over the past few months, and I have to say we love it.

Café Verona Espresso is a complex coffee that is made up of coffee beans from three countries, Brazil, Honduras, and Indonesia, and each bean brings something to the table:

Brazilian coffee beans have a pronounced peanutty quality and heavy body, with Chocolate and some spice, and the coffees tend to linger a bit in the mouth.

Honduras coffee beans have medium Intensity/Honeyed sweetness, with dried fruit, moderate acidity.

Indonesian Old Brown Java coffee beans comes from the Island of Java in Indonesia. This is a 'long-aged' coffee, where the coffee beans are allowed to naturally age in warehouses for at least 6 years. Old Brown Java is one of the most famous and sought after of the 'aged' coffees The musky complex aromas are matched by the rustic earthy flavour notes. The long finish and big body makes this coffee especially impressive.

Put these three beans together, roast to a medium degree, and you have a coffee that can be used any time of the day or night.

Our coffee is roasted  using a Giesen traditional drum roaster which is computer controlled using state of the art software to ensure that the coffee beans are roasted to perfection.

Judge's Comments :-

Good example of a dark roast: big and bold, and delivers the flavour well in balance.  It was too big and bold for some but, of its type, this is genuine and well-managed.  Dark chocolate and good bitterness.

Midnight Espresso, a great blend of Coffee beans from Asia, and South America which is roasted really dark.

If you like your coffee dark, with lots of body, and acidity then look no further, this is the coffee for you.

We have taken two coffee beans from Asia, Indonesian Old Brown Java which is aged for six years, and coffee beans from Vietnam, blended them with coffee beans from Brazil and then expertly roasted them to a ‘French Roast' to  give you an espresso coffee to love.

Each bean brings something different to the blend, so expect bags of body, and flavour.

Judges Comments

Very dark roast beans. Good deep colour with some oiliness. The palate has lively acidity and for a dark roast there are, happily, no burnt notes. Well balanced. With a touch of warm milk this sings. No great complexity but a solid coffee without any unpleasant bitterness on the finish.

We set our coffee roaster a challenge, to develop a new coffee blend that would bring out the best characteristics s of Costa Rican coffee beans that are 'Strictly High Grown' but with a bit of extra body.

Well Somerset Roast is the result of him slaving over a hot roaster for weeks, and cupping 10’s of different samples.

This coffee has the classic flavour and Acidity of Costa Rican SHB beans which  are generally believe to have some of the best coffee flavour profiles in south/central America, with high grown altitudes and a pleasant acidity. Its defining flavour profile includes a brown-sugary sweetness, citrusy notes and apricot-like fruity flavours, but by adding in Colombian, Brazilian, and a small amount of Old Brown Java the result is a coffee that is also smooth, and has a medium Body, 100% Arabica coffee just right for drinking almost any time of the day or night
