Discriminating coffee drinkers have long placed Sumatra coffee at the top of the list of the best coffees in the world, and Sumatra Mandheling coffee is one of the common four types of Sumatra coffee.
While most coffee is named after the growing region, or the country, Mandheling coffee is named after the Mandheling people that traditionally farmed and processed the coffee beans, and this has also become a ‘trade’ name for this coffee.
Sumatra coffees are very interesting when decaffeinated, because the non-decaf coffee beans have so little acidity and so much body the coffee works very well with the Swiss Water process decaf method.
So what can you expect from this coffee?
The cup has low acidity, but bold forestry and earthy Sumatra flavours. The dry fragrance and wet aroma have an abundance of this earth-toned character, but there is a rustic sweetness too, as well as herbal hints. The cup has almost a caramelize-earthy sweetness, and full, dense body.
The Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Company is the only company in the world that uses pure, fresh water from British Columbia and the unique SWISS WATER® Process to decaffeinate coffee.

The unique SWISS WATER® Process uses pure water from British Columbia, Canada to gently remove the caffeine until the coffee beans are 99.9% caffeine-free, while maintaining the bean's distinctive origin and flavour characteristics.
